The department is headed by an eminent Pediatrician
and Academician- Dr. Anand Pandit. Under his able
and dynamic leadership, the department has evolved
into one of the best Pediatric Departments in
the country.

Academics
The Pediatric Department at KEM
Hospital, headed by Dr. Anand Pandit has a glorious
history of successful postgraduate students, with
the first Pediatrician passing out in 1975. After
that hundreds of students have become successful
pediatricians all over the world.

The Research centre of the department
has to its credit various prestigious national
and international research projects and innumerable
publications of the same.

of the society.

Speciality Services
The department is proud to have
a dedicated PICU, a state of the art NICU, a well
equipped Rehabilitation Centre, Liver and gastroenterology
unit and other specialty services like Pediatric
Cardiology, Haemato-Oncology,
Paediatric Epileptology and Clinical Genetics.
Emergency Services
The pediatric department at KEM Hospital, Pune
is the first of its kind in the city of Pune to
start Pediatric Emergency Services. The
aim of this initiative is to provide immediate
life saving services to critically ill children,
so as to save valuable time and many innocent
lives.

Pediatrics):
Applications are invited
for the following two courses accredited
to The National Board Of Examinations, New
Delhi:
Post Diploma (D.Ch.
from MCI recognized Institute/ University)
DNB Pediatrics.
There are two seats every year for this
two year course.
Primary DNB Pediatrics (Post MBBS).
There are two seats every year for this
three year course.
The applications for the above mentioned
courses are invited from December, interviews
are conducted in January and the course
commences in February every year.

The department
runs a 40 bedded Level III Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit (NICU) which provides the best of
neonatal services at affordable costs to patients.
With a dedicated NICU Team, sophisticated
equipments like warmers, incubators, pumps,
and ventilators, and extensive back up facilities
like blood gas, micro lab assays, ultrasound
machines and advanced microbiological testing,
the unit is rendering commendable service
in its mission to provide an ICU facility
for the tiny neonates who come for it.
Applications are invited for the DNB (Neonatology)
accredited to The National Board of Examinations,
New Delhi in this NICU:
This is a three year stipendiary course
provided by the unit for Post Graduates
(Post M.D. Pediatrics/ Post DNB Pediatrics).
The applications for the above mentioned
course are invited from December, interviews
are conducted in January and the course
commences in February every year.

The Pediatric
Intensive Care Unit in K.E.M. is a 10 bedded
unit with trained nurses and qualified Resident
Pediatricians who attend to the immediate
needs of sick children round the clock. It
is equipped for minute to minute monitoring
of vital parameters. It is headed by a highly
trained and devoted intensivist. The cases
coming to the unit have a variegated profile
ranging from traumatic and non-traumatic coma,
respiratory failures from pneumonias, asthma,
congenital heart diseases, myocarditis, septic
shock, diabetic ketoacidosis, liver diseases,
renal failure, foreign body aspiration, accidental
poisoning and animal bites.
The IAP-ISCCM Joint Body has commenced
a I year Basic Certified Course in Pediatric
Critical Care in K.E.M. PICU.
Applications are invited from Post Graduates
(Post M.D. Pediatrics/ Post DNB/ DCH Pediatrics)
for the above course.
The interviews are conducted between May-July
and the course commences in October every
year.
